Veterans Administration

US Flight Academy understands the unique needs of providing flight training to our service members utilizing VA benefits.  Several of our current staff members are also former service personnel.  Our trained staff is well versed in assisting veterans to deal with all of the applicable documents and training course requirements. You can count on US Flight Academy to provide the expert flight training you need and the guidance to ensure you receive the maximum benefits you are entitled to.

Reimbursement of Costs

The GI Bill is an excellent way to offset the cost of your training. The GI Bill will reimburse the qualified service member for up to 60% of the maximum number of hours approved for Flight and Ground Training (post-Private license). The maximum number of hours is based on the FAA’s regulations on the Part 141 training program which includes structured lesson plans similar to that found at a university. The structured nature of the Part 141 program permits students to complete a smaller number of minimum flight time requirements.

Each month you will receive reimbursement from the VA based upon the amount of training received. This information is provided by US Flight Academy in the form of a Monthly Certification Report.

The VA does not reimburse for training hours that exceed the maximum number of hours, nor does it reimburse for textbooks, charts, instruments, FAA medical exams, or other materials that may be necessary for training. Upon your request, you may be reimbursed for FAA written exams and practical check-rides through the Professional Testing & Certification Program.

For additional information and qualifying terms, please visit www.gibill.va.gov or contact us and speak with our veteran’s representative.

Attendance Requirements

Students receiving federal educational benefits under Title 38, U. S. Code are required to complete at least 15 hours of instruction per quarter (every 90 days after training begins). In addition, each VA student must complete at least 5 hours of flight or ground training in each 30 day period following the date training begins.
