Course Description - CFI

Overview:  The Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Course focuses on the fundamentals of instruction. This course gives the student an opportunity to practice and hone their teaching skills and helps them gain a deeper understanding of previous courses. This certificate allows you to give flight and ground instruction, endorse students to take practical and written exams, give flight reviews.

Enrollment Prerequisites: The student must have at least a Commercial Pilot Rotorcraft Helicopter Certificate and a current 3rd class medical to begin flight training.

Aircraft: The Robinson R-22 Beta II is typically used at this level of training. For safety reasons, US Flight Academy has implemented a pilot weight restriction of 210 lbs. The Robinson R-44 can be substituted to complete the Private Pilot Training at an additional cost.

• Review of the aeronautical knowledge areas of Recreational, Private and Commercial certificates.

Flight Training
At completion of course, student will meet Federal Aviation Administration requirements to include (but not limited to):

• Introduction to flight from the left seat
• Emphasis on fundamentals of instructing
• Pre and post flight procedures and briefings
• Airport & heliport operations
• Hovering maneuvers, takeoffs & landings
• Fundamentals of flight & performance maneuvers
• Emergency & special operations
